A china set or crystal pieces or even flatware can be more than just dishes serving a practical purpose; often they are family heirlooms, a connection to generations past and a tangible link of one's heritage. Breaking or damaging such a piece can often be a disheartening, even heartbreaking occurrence; your set may not seem as special or distinctive without the missing piece.
But don't despair! If you broke your favorite china dish or have a piece missing from your set, there are ways and places to find that piece. All that is required is a little patience and creativity.
Haunt Flea Markets and Estate Sales
While it does require some patience and quite a bit of searching, flea markets and estate sales are the ideal places to search for discontinued china, especially if your pattern was a rather common one. You'll also be hard pressed to beat the prices you will find.
Online Auctions
Online auctions (such as those found at ebay.com) often carry a wide range of random, rare, and unique items; search using the name of the pattern, the manufacturer, even the colors or type of piece you are searching for. You may be surprised at what you find!
Contact Collectors
China patterns, especially rare ones, often have collectors. Go online and see if you can find a group of collectors of your pattern. If you have any luck, contact them to see if they would be willing to part with the piece you are looking for; chances are, for the right price they will!
Discontinued China Services
There are a number of companies online that specialize in rare and hydroxycut max. Often they can identify a pattern and the manufacturer just from a picture of the piece. This route may be a little more expensive but it is by the far the most likely to yield results and quick.
Contact the Manufacturer
If you happen to be lucky enough to have the original packaging or the name of the manufacturer, contact the manufacturer to see if they still make or sell your rare china. At the very least, they may be able to point you in the right direction.
